Haiku Oz is a great resource site for Australian Haiku poets. Includes comps, journals and events. This link is to the new site.

The Haiku Society of America is a great resource for Haiku poets. 

Beltway Poetry Journal lists contests for poetry. This includes haiku and other verse forms. 

The British Haiku Society is another great resource with comps, events and resources. They hold the annual British haiku Awards. Blithe Spirit is their print journal but poems are also published online. They also have a Facebook page.

International Kusamakura Haiku Contest Opens June 1st 2019 with deadline in September each year.

Polish International Haiku Competition submissions are from Aug-Oct. 

Western Open & Traditional Verse Forms

Astralian Book Review  list of competitions. One, The Peter Porter Poetry Prize, is one of Australia’s most lucrative and respected awards for poetry. It honours the life and work of the great Australian poet Peter Porter (1929–2010). Deadline is 1 December 2015. Poems must not exceed 75 lines and must be written in English. First Prize: $5,000 and Arthur Boyd’s etching and aquatint The unicorn and the angel, 1975 from the series The lady and the unicorn, 1975. Shortlisted Poets: $500

Beloit Poetry Journal accepts international entries. 

Bridport Prize Poetry & Short Story Categories. 

The Emma Press is a small publisher of poetry. Innovative and different. 

Every Writer Resources is a great site with an extensive list of the best literary magazines and journals for poetry and prose, including horror. 

The Newcastle Poetry Prize is an annual poetry prize, ($12,000 for 1st, in 2015).

Overland Judith Wright Poetry Prize for New and Emerging Poets, is sponsored by the Malcolm Robertson Foundation. Major prize: $6000.

Australian Poetry lists writing opportunities for poets.

The Manchester Poetry Prize is an international poetry prize open to poets from 16 years onwards. Deadline September. They also have a Fiction Prize.  

The Ontario Poetry Society in Canada has a very good list of contests. Some international.

The Poetry Kit lists poetry magazines & journals accepting submissions.

The NSW Writers’ Centre is a good source for information for poets and writers. The Blake Poetry Prize is not being offered in 2015. 

The Wesely Michel Wright Poetry Prize, (University of Melbourne), is open to Australian citizens, awarded to an author or composer of verse or poem in English. 2019 applications have closed.

T.S. Eliot Poetry Prize is an annual prize for book-length work of poetry. Deadline: 31st October each year.

University of Canberra Vice Chancellor’s Poetry Prize is an international prize including novice poets.   Entrants must be 18 yrs or over. $15,000 – major prize.

Poetry Life & Times is an online forum publishing poetry from around the world.

Writing WA is a good resource site with a list of comps for writers and poets. Some links didn’t work.
